Instant Updates

Instant Updates

Once you've fully uploaded to Apple and Google for the first time, you have the ability to instantly update your app.

This means that whenever you click “Publish” in 22apps, your updates will be instantly pushed to the app store with no lengthy submission or reviewal process required. Additionally, any app users will not have to update their app to see your new content.

  • Note – in Apple and Android’s terms of service, these instant updates are allowed as long as they do not change the purpose / main function of the app.
  • With updates we recommend adding in new content and making edits/changes, while keeping the same primary focus of the app that you initially submitted.

PART 1 - Getting your Expo Project ID:

- go to > All projects
- find your existing app
- copy the "ID" field into 22apps

PART 2 - Getting your Expo Access Token

- go to > Account settings > Access tokens
- create a new token (you can call it anything, like "22apps" etc)
- copy the token as it will only be available once

- paste the token in 22apps

How to Instantly Update Your App

Instantly updating your app follows a very simple process.

  • First, ensure you've made any changes to your app if necessary. Be sure to save and test your app to confirm it is working as intended.
  • Then, click the publish button in the top UI of any app screen in your app.

From here, a window titled "Publish Your App" will pop up.

In order to publish your instant update to Apple and Google, ensure your Expo credentials are correct, then click publish.

  • Note - DO NOT check the boxes. These are only necessary if you have to resubmit your app files to Apple or Google.
  • Ensure the boxes are unchecked, and clicked "Publish".
  • Similarly to testing your app, your build will begin generating. This typically takes a minute or two, and once that's done, your updates will be live in your app!
